Welcome to the 2006 ComedyTown Project, where laughs and
fun come first. Last year’s inaugural ComedyTown Project in Louisiana
was a huge success and a great fundraiser for two worthy agencies, and
this year hopes to build on the enthusiasm. The 2nd Annual ComedyTown
Project, from November 9-12 in New Orleans and southern Louisiana, is
a fundraiser for the Police and Fire departments of New Orleans, who right
now could use a good laugh. The ComedyTown Project brings together people
in the comedy industry, from comics and booking agents to club owners
and executives, creating a true celebration of the comedy arts, all for
a great cause. Weekend Shows Comedy concerts are a feature of the Project, giving comedians ample audiences to showcase their humor, and the opportunity to be heard live by industry professionals from around the country. All shows will be produced and taped for television, to be aired later on the Louisiana Cable Network. A commitment to produce future television ComedyTown Projects is currently in negotiations. The Business of Comedy Workshops were a valuable part of the first ComedyTown Project and will be an important focus this year and for years to come. Performing comedians and local Louisiana comics will be invited to meet industry professionals – booking agents, club owners and executives – to ask questions and get invaluable advice on their careers. We plan to add and expand the educational components of all future ComedyTown Projects. New Venues The ComedyTown Project is looking to expand its reach into all corners of the United States, reaching out to comedians and comedy insiders and helping nurture great talent and build the importance of live comedy throughout the country.
